changes / movement / details

wildflower hunting this morning for valentine's day! one of my favorite things to do ;)

Hi friends, I just want to check in for a moment. A few new things:

* So, TIGERS to LILIES has a new logo. I really loved the old one but I felt it was time for a change, especially because I am in the middle of so many changes, so why not here too? I would really like to know what you think of it?

* I've been working hard on my website, which is still yet to be up, but I also have been working on this which I very much am happy about. Please have a visit and let me know your thoughts:

* I have been working a ton in my studio too, which means that I am taking a bit longer to respond to emails and comments, but please know that I appreciate all of them. I do. Have I ever mentioned to you that my spirit animal might just be the trusted snail...

* Lastly, this year for Valentine's Day I am trying to create something really unique and special. My friends over at En Soie have generously lent me their space and beautiful work table to hold a temporary space for TIGERS to LILIES on Valentine's Day. I am working hard to hunt down wildflowers that haven't been sprayed and are freely growing. Bouquets will be available at Cookbook Market in Echo Park, the Urban Radish downtown in the Arts District and over at Shelter Half on La Brea. I will be in-store personally at En Soie in Silver Lake to make bouquets per order. My wonderfully talented friend and chef extraordinaire Eden Batki is preparing to bake herbal donuts too, available to pre-order or to simply purchase at En Soie day-of. Seriously waaay stoked about this combination: wildflowers + donuts! Two of my favorite things! Shoot me an email if you would like more details -- we are creating the flavors of the donuts over the weekend and I will know more by the end of the weekend. Many more details on Monday!

St. Valentine's Day Pop-Up

A really big and heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up! It was a busy, busy day but I felt extremely grateful: to Marta & Robert of Cookbook for letting me use their beautiful space, to Shelter Half for granting me their grand scale space, to artist Lauren Spencer King for her winsome handmade cards, to artist Cheri Messerli for her bewitching marbleized papers, to Ben Medansky for his one-of-a-kind hand thrown ceramics and porcelains, and to each and every one of you who stopped by and gave me love from far and wide. 

I read that 'flowers trigger emotions of happiness.' How very true. Really then, what could be better?

Holiday Event with SFRD + Cœur!

Hi friends. So sorry it's been so long! 

* * *Happy December* * *

Are you having a nice start to the month so far? I hope so. I can finally relax a little now that school is on winter break. Did you have finals too? How have you been? I'd like to know.

So to start off, this Saturday there is a very special pop-up holiday sale over at Society for Rational Dress and curated by Cœur. Very exciting and should be lots of great holiday treasures. I'll be there with wreaths, garlands, and some very special kokedamas and would love to see you. Even if it's just to say hello. So mark it in your calendars.

Cleome + Pop-Up!

Do you know about the cleome flower? I didn't know about them until I saw them in the fields two weeks ago. I was mesmerized! They are both tough and delicate looking, full yet airy. I am always amazed at what can thrive under the intensity of the Southern California desert sun, and just when I get to the farm and expect things to be shriveled up and yellow, I walk into a field full of blooming and thriving cleomes! You can just go ahead and move over, peony and hydrangea...

I picked a bunch of cleomes for my Pop-Up tomorrow:

Spencer Studio + TIGERS to LILIES!

The insanely talented and oh so pretty  Lauren of  SPENCER STUDIO and I had a clever little idea: what if we both collaborated on a project together? We work so well ensemble and we inspire one another and so we did: I dropped off little arrangements of wildflowers that I loved on her doorstep for about a week and if she, upon finding them, found inspiration to draw or paint, would. Well lo and behold, look at these beautiful works that she created. We were both so pleased that we made them into postcards! We are selling them for $2 a card and today I will be setting up a little wildflower installation at Shelter Half. I'll be selling some there and also have books and readings on plants + wildflowers to browse through. Stop by from 12-5pm! Or email me if you would like to purchase some of these first limited edition cards.

Maman

This is my (really beautiful) mom teaching two of her three little ducks to swim in Spain some Summer ago. I never really share pictures of my family here, but I want to dedicate this post to her. She is my constant cheerleader, mentor, graceful adviser and ever beautiful bird of love. (See I told you, every day can be mother's day...). Merci miman.

Shelter Half + Daily Candy

Ummm, so this is pretty exciting. Have you heard of Shelter Half here in Los Angeles? It's a pretty rad pop-up of amazing designers, records, rare books, photography, stellar furniture and home goods + organic products in an incredibly large and extremely well curated space. Good vibes all around. They have asked me to have a TIGERS to LILIES pop-up for the month of June (I am honored), and in the meantime, I'll be dropping off little arrangements to celebrate mother's day this Saturday and Sunday. Pretty cool. I highly recommend checking them out: you'll probably spend some time simply hanging out in their super beautiful and comfortable sofas leafing through an exceptionally good book while listening to some old records. You must say hello to Virginie, too. Doesn't get much cooler than her...

*also, the ad doesn't give credit to Silver Lake Farms which is how I can even go about starting my mornings in the fields. Tara Kolla's extremely hard work, dedication, research, sweat and heart is inspiring on so many different levels. It's all thanks to her we (and I) can have wildflowers that are not only organic but peaceful and prepossessing. Thank you Tara!

Lastly, a little snippet in Daily Candy is certainly a nice way to start the day. Thank you Daily Candy!

Fleurs Sauvage!

I know they're a little blurry, but how sweet is Button? She lost her eye when she was only a kitten but it doesn't stop her from anything. Even though she's the bossiest cat in our clan and really bullies the others, she is always by my side, helping. I let her get away with it all. Cute as a...BUTTON!
