Chamomile / Flowers

Sorry a bit late with these but here are the flowers that I did for Cortez's New Years Eve dinner. I was able to gather more than eighty percent from my garden + neighborhood, which really made these flowers in particular feel extra special. Chamomile was a bonus ; )

Can I also say thank you to everyone for all the encouragement and support regarding my new studio. It really does mean a lot to me. It's really nice to be able to share this next (big) step for Tigers to Lilies with all of you and to receive such a warm response. So, thank you.

Dream jobs come and flow and I have to say, I keep getting asked to create pieces that push me so far out of my orbit that the process itself of creation becomes very much a part of my piece. The requests usually comes from my dear friend/director/visionaire/artist and insanely talented Claire Cottrell. Her visions for her very specific worlds are always so otherworldly yet familiar. Her precise parameters are discussed, examined, explored and finally defined and it is usually during this moment in an otherwise calm meeting that she shakes me up with so much inspiration until I'm ready to explode and then she sets me free and I create. It just flows. I soar. Usually in the last wee moments before a piece is due.

My infinite thanks and gratitude to you Claire Cottrell for always believing in me and asking me for the moon and the stars. It is because of you that these pieces are birthed and seen. xxxx

* I want Lauren, Elijah, Blake and Leo to know how much they too contribute to not only the day-of shoot but to my every day creations. You keep me inspired.

Oyster Magazine

so game of thrones no?

Sometimes I get commissioned to do really wonderful, fun, creative work that I enjoy so, so, so much but I can't always share it on my blog right away. Especially with work done for magazines. These are floral coronets that I made for Oyster Magazine way back last winter. I really enjoy this kind of work--artistry involving my hands, my flowers and plant materials. It is meditation for me once I get into my own world (aka my head) to create. I am given a lot of creative liberty too which is really nice. Usually I'm given a color palette and texture samples and a request almost always comes accompanied with a couple of photos for the mood and the rest is up to me. This is such an ideal way to work. I had actually forgotten about these photos and am going through all my photos for my new website that I am putting together (more on that soon I promise) and I chanced upon these and was so super happy to get to share them with you!

Thank you again Oyster Magazine xx

IKEBANA ALBUMS

I've written before on how much I admire the work of Ana Kras. Look through her Ikebana Albums. So much beauty.

Cécile Daladier

Might as well throw in some staggeringly wonderful ceramics + flowers from Cécile Daladier! I love her work so much. Perfect objects d'art for May Day, or my birthday, or Mother's Day, or my birthday... ;)

Beth Hoeckel

I stumbled upon artist Beth Hoeckel's work today and was completely mesmerized. I want to visit these places that she has created through collage + photography. I have been thinking a lot lately about how to combine flowers and galaxies, plants and planets, gardens and outer space. A bit esoteric I know, but I am so super inspired by Beth's work. Have a look for yourself and get ready to float away. Thank you Beth.

Hi friends! We're back from a really, really lovely trip to Tulum, México! Have you been there? Much more on that later! I have some really dreamy pictures to share with you...

We are having a bit of rain here in LA and I love it. Picked up some brightly blooming acacia to lighten up Cortez today and some really wonderful and steadfast hellebores. Have you seen this kind before?

I also want to send out a heartfelt thank you to everyone leaving me such nice comments and for your support. It really means a lot to me.

Yes, I just posted a really large amount of photos back-to-back and I hope that you don't mind. I have wanted to share all of these flowers with you for quite some time now. Some are for fashion editorials, some for friends, some for weddings, some for collaborations, some for spaces, some are simply just because and some are from wedding-y ceremonies. But all sprout from a wild garden that is rooted deeply in my spirit and steadily growing further and further out, wrapping itself around my veins and continuing to advance further with every pump of my heart. I hope that you enjoy them too.
