Garden of Peace and Meditation

recent 35mm shots / Lake Shrine
'You are a wildflower, a beauty unsurpassed.'
-Paramahansa Yogananda

I recently got some 35mm film rolls developed and came upon a few stellar shots (upon many missed shots!) from our family morning trip out to Lake Shrine in the Pacific Palisades to celebrate Elijah's birthday. Have you heard of Paramahansa Yogananda and his centers for self-realization? Have you been to one before dear reader?

I highly, highly recommend a walk around Lake Shrine.
Let the peacefulness and flowers wash over you.
Always.

The Gravity of Greenery

words and images by Georgina Reid

A wonderful read! I think we're all especially drawn to plants + gardens right now, and this article sums it all up rather nicely. Georgina Reid you are brilliant!

shower time!

If you are living anywhere in Southern California, don't forget to water your plants right now! With this excessive heat they (we!) all could use some extra hydration. Do keep the drought in mind - water your plants if possible in a tub or shower all together, so that extra run off runs through to the other plants. You'll knock out your watering in one go, the plants will benefit from hanging out with one another, and you'll save some water. If possible, please try not to exceed watering to more than once a week. You can always email me for more information  ;)

Seeds, not Bombs!

These flower boxes I created out of old military gun shipping crates. I am not a supporter of violence nor war. I wanted these living boxes to represent Seeds, Not Bombs! The containers themselves make for a great space to cultivate little gardens! They are then placed on top of one of our hand-welded stands and can be watered just like you would a regular garden box/garden! Should you be interested in one for your space, do email me. They will be available soon too through my website/shop. The one above is about four months old and is thriving.

UNIQUE LA x TIGERS to LILIES

Back in May, TIGERS to LILIES had the unique task of adding 'life' to the Unique LA event by bringing in plants/trees/flower boxes along with our brand of hand-welded plant stands. Unique LA is a  weekend mart for all creatives here in Los Angeles - a showcase and opportunity for local brands to introduce their products and shine. Working alongside one of my brothers, we managed to add some much needed green spirit to the large space and couldn't have been more proud!

I still operate from a family-base, meaning that when I need something designed/welded/built/created/delivered (sometimes by motorcycle!) I turn to either one of my adeptly skilled brothers, my husband Elijah, or my assistant Jessica. We are a tight unit and operate very well together. Something that I am quite proud of and most grateful for.

Thank you again Unique LA!

The Standard Plant-scription

The Standard Hotel, Hollywood has had a plant-scription with me for almost a year now, and to this day it is one of my very favorite places to bring plants to! Their plant-scription consists of me bringing in plants that A) will last B) enhance the environment and C) are design appropriate for the Standard's keen aesthetic. Once all the plants are installed, I come in and water, administer vitamins (if needed) and make sure that everyone is thriving and happy. It's very satisfying to see my green friends not only live but thrive in this environment! I even brought a baby pineapple to maturity indoors

This week we included plants for their iconic pool. I worked closely with their design director to make sure that the plants out by the pool would look different than the usual suspects. We chose ones that resembled underwater sea-life, like corals and anemones. Immediately they were all very well received. Thus, the clients are happy, The Standard is happy, my green friends are happy, and I am (extremely) happy!

If you are curious about a plant-scription for your home, your office, your hotel, or to gift to someone else simply email me : lcuzor@yahoo.com  Let's start this conversation and bring in some nature indoors! Woohoo ; )

xx thank you so much Jenni B. + The Standard Hotel! xx

Taylor Stitch : The Ladies Club

A few weeks back, my friends at Funkhaus and their friends over at Taylor Stitch asked if I would be interested in being featured in TS The Ladies Club. I was delighted and said why yes! of course. How fun! And fun it was - I got to showcase some of my favorite green friends, including that I brought to Funkhaus almost a year ago and continue to care for weekly through my plant-sciption service. I watch them like a proud mama, all of them thriving and growing. I made a new human friend along the way too, the brilliant Kate Jones of Ursa Major who outfitted me in head-to-toe Taylor Stitch. I like that all of their clothing is part tomboy, part sophisticated, and all the way cool. Overall, a really fun day that ended with a big lunch and a many good laughs.

Thank you so much Funkhaus (you boys are so good to me) + Taylor Stitch!

GREEN FINGERS / Satoshi Kawamoto

Satoshi Kawamoto!

Green Fingers,  Japan
Green Fingers in the East Village, NYC

Oh can I even begin to share Green Fingers with you?! Maybe you already know of Satoshi and his magically wonderful green world? Tokyo-based Satoshi Kawamoto is a garden stylist/artist whose work is, simply put, botanical art. Botanical art -- doesn't that just sound so good? What I sincerely appreciate about his work, besides his passion and eye and love for plants + flowers is that he explores what this relationship is that exists between us and them. It's a celebration, really. Life, death and everything green in-between. I am such a fan. Such an admirer. I very much look forward to visiting Green Fingers next time I am in New York or Japan!

"Laying the groundwork for a field where greenery is a familiar presence, he seeks to enrich the ways in which people relate to flora and fauna." -GF

Bonus: Satoshi put out a beautiful book recently called Deco Room with Plants which you can purchase from BOOK STAND. It is a must for your library!

p.s. Feel free to gush to me if you have already been! Seriously! Or send me a photo  ;)
