Micheltorena Block Party / En Soie

couldn't have done it without Elijah's help (per usual)
Eleonore + Rafa, guardians of En Soie

these two xx . . . sigh

meanwhile over at Dream Collective. . .

and then over to our friends at Tomboy. . .
I made some hanging Christmas tree kokedamas for Tomboy!

Last night, my Silver Lake neighborhood had a festive holiday block party : Micheltorena Block Party to be exact. It was so much fun, seeing everyone, eating home-baked Swiss cookies (thanks Eleonore!) and drinking wine while visiting friends and neighboring stores including En Soie, Clare Vivier, Dream Collective and Tomboy

The lovely couple Eleonore and Rafa of En Soie asked me to do a floral installation in celebration of the big event and gave me free reins. It was really great seeing my vision come to fruition under the parameter of 'holiday' yet without the usual holiday suspects (cedar, amaryllis, holly, etc...). My inspiration was a winter's forest with a kiss of California desert. I went with fresh seeded ivy, wild sumac, pineapple, magnolia, protea and banksia, white hellebores, eucalyptus pods and hot pink poinsettias! I included some of my gold-leafed jars to hang from a giant branch along with various wreaths to create illuminated floating mobiles and other hanging forest ephemera. Overall it was a really fun evening, and it felt really great seeing everyone while the mariachis serenaded us. It makes me (and Elijah) feel very fortunate to have such a strong community that supports the arts and creatives alike.

A great heartfelt thanks to Eleonore and Rafa and the entire staff at En Soie (you too Mete + Camille!) for granting me the honor. I had so much fun! If you need some Christmas gifts may I suggest you stop by En Soie for a dose of holiday spirit and magic - the store has some of the most beautiful goods I have yet seen here in LA. Truly superb taste.

                                                               Merci En Soie x

PLANTS: OUR SILENT GUARDIANS

I am sooo excited to share this with you today and to invite you to come out next Thursday, March 21st for our opening ceremony to help us celebrate the TIGERS TO LILIES installation + collaboration: PLANTS: OUR SILENT GUARDIANS

I have been asked to be the artist-in-residence for one month at The Standard Hollywood and I sincerely couldn't be more honored or psyched! As is my nature I knew that I wanted to collaborate with my friends: the amazing artists Lauren Spencer King + Claire Cottrell! Together the three of us have come up with what I can confidently say will be a staggeringly beautiful installation with of course a lot of wild and a lot of depth. You. Have. To. Come!

Furthermore, just to sprinkle all this goodness with even more fun, Claire's BOOKSTAND will have a physical space in the hotel lobby as a pop-up for the duration of the installation 3/21 - 4/21! If you know anything about Claire you know that this will be a most special space with such treasures to read, workshops to attend and lectures to be heard all while sipping on herb-infused refreshments + snacks. So seriously, how exciting is Spring looking? I'll do my best to give you as much info about all of this as it unfolds, OK?

Thank you Jenni B. + The Standard!

TRADESMEN Part II

thank you for my cool sign Doug!

This past Saturday was the beautiful evening hosted by TRADESMEN in Venice. The minute I met Doug and Ruben (the shining and über-talented couple behind TRADESMEN) I felt as though I was with kinfolk. They gave me free reins and so I set out to do whatever it was my heart desired! I really enjoyed their space and felt inspired with every corner, every shelf, every object in there. But it really comes down to Doug and Ruben and their trails of inspiration that orbit them wherever they go, whatever they touch. More pics here!

Katarina provided her really special and especially clean tasting wine, Wahrheit, which she had shipped from her vineyard in the Black Forest (Germany!) and the Venice Merchant + SMOHK bread provided fresh produce and smoked grilled cheeses!

• • Thank you so much Doug + Ruben • •

...and if you haven't yet been to TRADESMEN yet then go and pay them a visit! You'll be inspired the minute you walk through their doors!

and lastly, none of this could have been done without all of Elijah's help

This past August, I got the grand privilege to do the floral artistry for a very special wedding in Ojai, California. This ceremony-of-love was so special and the couple's love so powerful that it sent endearing shock-waves to all the guests and I think it's safe to speak on everyone's behalf when I say that we all felt high from love throughout the entire time! I was really impressed too with Christine and Sasha's friends: they all worked together to make this happen from the very beginning to the very end. You could feel everyone's excitement and joy spilling everywhere!

Lovely-as-can-be Christine trusted me from the very beginning and gave me carte blanche for the everything. That was incredibly wonderful for me and gave me the freedom to spin some serious beautiful wild magic! Daydream more here for a bit...

xx Thank you so much Christine + Sasha! xx

***noteworthy: please take a look at the wedding invitation. It. Is. Divine.
