me at 28 weeks, photo by David Black

It's time I share with you some really, really magical and big news. Elijah and I are getting ready to welcome our newest member to the family. It has been everything I could ever imagine and all things I have never imagined! Such a miracle the beginning of life. Truly. It is bit overwhelming to write about and so I will leave you with this image that friend and photographer David Black took last week while I was working with flowers for him...

thank you so kindly David for all the light + this beautiful moment captured  xx

New Year, New Studio, New Beginnings

I am so pleased to share with you that TIGERS to LILIES has an official headquarters now, one that I am over the moon for! I am still putting it together but am about 80% there. It still feels a bit surreal to me at times, and when I am there in my new studio, working or cleaning or reading I cannot help but smile from ear to ear. I feel so grateful. Giddy, really. Not so much new beginnings for me or TTL but growth. We're moving forward and doing so at a steady pace, which is the only way I know how to move anyways.

For now these shots are your first studio visit (!!) but I promise more to come! And as I am writing this I am realizing that I am smiling from ear to ear, once again.

Threading in The Choirs

photos Michael took of flora in his house
I made some new friends this past weekend and I am so happy that I did, I really am. Sometimes you meet people only once and you already know that you're going to be in each others lives and it's going to be even better for it! Check out Michael's pretty perfect site here and Leigh's pretty perfect site here.

BTW, what kind of flora is currently around your house?

Happy New Year!

Gathering Water Lilies by Peter Henry Emerson

My doves! Happy, happy, peaceful new year to you! We're starting fresh as a collective aren't we and there is something to be felt about that. Here's to a plethora of joy, laughter, love, movement and a freer 2013! I'm excited for this new year.

Cortez

I am really so excited and honored with my newest wildflower account: Cortez! Everything in the space is already so beautifully curated (including the beautiful Sam Gore vases I get to use) by owners Marta Teegan and Robert Stelzner that it makes is absolutely divine to float in there and add some finishing touches.

Have you eaten there yet? Go! It's absolutely stellar. I find myself lingering after the flowers are done to have a coffee and appreciate all the beauty around me.

Thank you so much Marta + Robert!

Christine + Sasha

got to use a hydrangea from my garden as a boutonniere

herb bouquets of sage and eucalyptus awaiting to be strung

wildflowers being used by the brilliant Christopher for cyanotypes of table numbers

Christine's bouquet

a wreath instead of a bouquet for Christine's sister; so elegant and different, no?

tons of gold leafing!

Ojai at dusk

I love how the flowers for her hair turned out.

beautiful bride & groom

boutonniere

eucalyptus + anemones make a for a stellar partnership

Pretty Lauren (of sphinx & the milky way) making vegan s'mores by the fire

wildflower + herb garland for the chuppah

oh a guest drunk off of love having some fun ;)

and lastly, none of this could have been done without all of Elijah's help

This past August, I got the grand privilege to do the floral artistry for a very special wedding in Ojai, California. This ceremony-of-love was so special and the couple's love so powerful that it sent endearing shock-waves to all the guests and I think it's safe to speak on everyone's behalf when I say that we all felt high from love throughout the entire time! I was really impressed too with Christine and Sasha's friends: they all worked together to make this happen from the very beginning to the very end. You could feel everyone's excitement and joy spilling everywhere!

Lovely-as-can-be Christine trusted me from the very beginning and gave me carte blanche for the everything. That was incredibly wonderful for me and gave me the freedom to spin some serious beautiful wild magic! Daydream more here for a bit...

xx Thank you so much Christine + Sasha! xx

***noteworthy: please take a look at the wedding invitation. It. Is. Divine.
(made through the synergy of the genius paring of  Lauren and Christopher)

Audrey Grace

Audrey Grace from Claire Cottrell on Vimeo.

(I never shared this short with you! It was a wonderful shoot with my friends Claire and Carly. Funny enough, this short inspired our Summer FĂȘte and an extensive collaboration between Claire, Lauren and myself. I consider this to be some of my most inspired work in terms of floral artistry).

This is my favorite shot of the whole lotte.

* Congrats Sabrina & Spencer *

Elijah, such a lovely assistant xo

Remember last week when I said I was going away for work? Well I got the grand privilege of shooting a wedding for a very lovely couple, Sabrina and Spencer. These are some of my Polaroids that I took. The best part was having Elijah and V.v. with me in this spectacular setting in Carmel, California. So, soo, sooo dreamy. Thank you so kindly again, Sabrina & Spencer!

Last night was undeniably fun and magical! It was the first of the Midsummer Nights Crafts series and the loveliest bunch showed up! It was the first time I have ever held a workshop and it really was an inspired evening. I thoroughly enjoy working with my hands and encouraging others to take the time to do the same. It was so lovely watching everyone working together, helping each other out, sharing stories and laughing together. I left completly lifted and floated all the way home. Thank you lovelies for showing up!
