MOTHER'S DAY WILD ROSES

I have been incredibly inspired by roses as of late. Not your tightly-budded straight stem rose, but her cousin, the wild rose. She grows curvy and free and has so many more thorns to pick. But she is so worth it. Her soft petals, her colors, her spell...

So for Mother's Day this year I am crafting special wild rose bouquets! They are exquisite. I will be selling them at COOKBOOK Market in Echo Park!

BOTANICA x TTL

I am proud to present my newest plant project: BOTANICA. It is completed and looking so lively and green! When I was approached by the lovely design firm WEEKEND STUDIOS to create the plant atmosphere and green the space, I enthusiastically said YES! It was two women, Emily Fiffer and Heather Sperling, opening up a much-needed fresh market + restaurant right in the heart of my hood, Silver Lake!

If you are in Los Angeles or visiting, you must go and eat there. Inhale deeply the fresh scents of honeysuckle,  jasmine + sage, and enjoy your meal as you sit next to the the giant ficus benjamina monique that is purifying the air!

Thank you so much BOTANICA + WEEKEND STUDIOS!

FLOWERS for LOVE + RESISTANCE for VALENTINE'S DAY

Happy Valentine's Day dear everyones!

Yes, it has been a while and I know we need to do some serious catching up! We will get to that. However, it is with great pleasure that I present to you :

WILDFLOWERS FOR RESISTANCE !

wild-crafted bouquets + blooming branches available for pick-up at:

COOKBOOK Market
1549 Echo Park Blvd.
8am - 8pm

- OR -

DUNE (in Atwater)
3143 Glendale Blvd.
10am - 9pm

ALL PROCEEDS will go to support the tribes at Standing Rock. In solidarity we stand together strongly. These flowers were hand-picked by me while on nature walks, purchased from farm stands from two farmer's markets that confirmed they were pesticide-free, and the blooming branches I got from my (only) trusted flower vendor at the Flower Mart. These flowers have integrity, vibrations, love, strength and most of all the power to send a message of action over words. Win-win!

From my heart to yours, Happy Valentine's Day!

xx Lili

& OTHER STORIES

I got to pull my dream team together this past week to work on a floral installation for the window to the much anticipated LA store opening of & Other Stories. We had a heat wave this week with it getting as hot as 90 degrees so there were challenges that I had to find creative solutions for to keep this living installation hydrated and green! I have to say, we nailed it. The windows look absolutely beautiful. It really does pull you to the store.

Thank you so kindly Alana, Christopher + Kirsten for bringing the floral magic. You are my dream team. And thank you & Other Stories for this opportunity! XO

MOVE !

What informs your work? Movement and line has been heavily observed on my end.

FLOWERS THRU MOVEMENT

I was honored to get to hold a workshop at my dear friend Hank's shop in Silver Lake,  The Plant Provocateur a few weekends back. We transformed his beautiful plant shop into a flower studio that looked like it could have been in an alleyway in Kyoto! The inspiration for the class was movement and how movement can inform our arrangements. I wanted to see energized flower creations with motion and energy - a deliberate break from the standard triangular arrangements that look like they are from a dutch still life (which I too find extremely beautiful of course).  I wanted students to explore something deeper for their inspirations - I wanted them to fish deep within themselves to see what they could pull out and run with that as their guides as opposed to a notion of what their arrangements should look like. Lo and behold I was astonished: such extremely unique and dynamic floral arrangements were indeed manifested! It was such a success and the students joy with their creations was just as infectious.

I am always pleasantly delighted at the beginning of a class when students are timid and unsure of what they are capable of creating, and being able to lead them to a confident floral designer by the end of a class with just a few simple instructions and more than anything else, encouragement for them to keep on pushing and going with their vision(s). That is the gift for me. That is my return.

To my awesome students: thank you for showing up and keeping me inspired.
