Gypsy Flowers

Sorry I' ve been a bit away this past week. Had to meet a major deadline for a project I was working on and was busy busy BUSY (who isn't around this time of year, huh?)! But I have a bunch of exciting things to post and some creative ideas to throw your way! So without any further delay, I am happy to share this fantastic editorial featured in V magazine and featuring the lovely Ms. Moss. The gypsy lifestyle is all about 'wild' and to incorporate that with wildflowers would be a very cool theme. Think: gypsy wedding/ceremony? Pretty unconventional and very lovely. Makes me think of lots of pretty colors, horses, willow-y fields, a hodgepodge of pretty fabrics, hats & feathers, and of course, wild flowers. Gypsy is going to be on the forefront of my mind for inspiration & ideas this coming up year...

What do you think?

France, je t'aime

Sorry, I know that this is a bit late seeing that it's already been a whole month since we were in France. Here are some of my pictures. I really loved that getting off the train in Paris, I was able to buy a teeny bouquet of french anemones for a couple of euros for a dear friend. Flowers don't always have a to be a huge production; much like life, the simpler and more natural, the better.

CONFETTI!!!

I know, this doesn't have much to do with flowers or nature but I couldn't help myself! CONFETTISYSTEM is the wonderful collaboration of two artists, Julie Ho & Nicholas Andersen and their friendship, love of crafts and design. They handcraft these beautiful installations and piñatas using tissue paper, cardboard, and silk. The result: an ephemeral space that takes you back to what it felt like to be excited for your birthday parties, or for me, it simply makes me think of magical fun. All I know is that these two artists are making the world a prettier place, space by space!

(mental note: neat concept to apply to flowers: magical fun, no)?

Treehouses, I Love You

Forgive me friends, but I cannot remember where exactly I got these images off the web. But seriously, how amazing, huh? I have a complete fascination for these giant people-nests in the trees. It seems so cozy and exceptionally at one with nature. One of these days, I'm going to build one.

Dandelion Ranch

I came upon Dandelion Ranch today through the very awesome blog Oh Joy! and was a bit blown away! They have a winsome way with their arrangements of flowers, a unique eye and a very cool philosophy:

...we allow the flowers to retain their integrity and arrange them in a way to maintain their natural movement or rather the way they might appear in the garden.

Up in the Trees

My good friend Jessica is studying in Japan right now. If I need a little inspiration or just want to be taken away for a moment, I check in to see what she is doing. She's been taking these amazing photographs that have me dreaming. Wouldn't it be nice to sit and have some of that tea while gazing at the trees?

L'affaire Orchidée

I did a shoot in my studio today with some lush orchids to play with which direction I was going in for Thanksgiving. These orchids that came my way are incredibly beautiful, how could I not shoot them? A bit more of that here.

Germany

My very first time in Germany was so lovely! Flower friends, you would not believe how many flowers were in bloom and pouring out of window ledges, out of flower pots & shops, and even over rooftops! Behind the veil of fog and cold weather, it felt like Germany was in full bloom!

It was very inspiring getting to see how they put flowers together (hello neon-hot Kale) and I came back ready to hit the pavement with a plethora of ideas! What was especially lovely was their constant use of wildflowers--it looked like someone went out to the fields and forests very early in the morning and picked a handful of different variations and put it all together.

Care for a couple more pics?

Cherry Blossoms

Japan is a place that holds a lot of space in my imagination, even though I have never been there before. It is a place that I almost recognize as home when I see pictures, yet I have never stepped foot there. My friend Cheri sent this beautiful little blog along my way and it got me daydreaming...

Books as Centerpieces?

OK, so I'm in the thoughts of using old books as centerpieces. Still in the process of working it through so that it looks elegant and sophisticated, but mostly so that it could stand on it's own on a huge table or credenza, or heck, over a fireplace even?

I really wish that computer screens had a scratch n' sniff feature because I really want to share with you the celestial scent these beauties give off. Absolutely lovely. Absolutely intoxicating.

One more thing. If you need a 20 second visual vacation or, if you're anything like me and resisting the onset of the cold weather a bit, have a peek at this: peek-a-boo.

I wish everyone a lovely beginning to a wonderful week*

Tahitian Landscape

I was going through some old Polaroids of mine and found these. Tropical climates are definitely one of my favorites because everything grows so lush and full.
I love the pool.
I love the colors of the flowers.
I love the mountains in the background.
I love the sheets tied out to dry.
