Browsing through an old issue of Domino Magazine (i miss you) I came upon this editorial of passing trends and flowers. I love the mod daisies and elegant yet dramatic statement of the calla lilies on the art deco page!
I'm currently researching plants/flowers for a yoga studio in downtown L.A. that I was asked to work some arrangements for (pictures to come soon). The ceilings are about 20ft. high and we have a lot of pipes to hang plants from. I'd like to keep it simple , organic and in tune with the environment, much like the above pictures are in congruent with their environments. Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed! Or if you know of a peaceful space that I could reference, please share!
I hope you are having a great week so far*

ooh. I can't wait to see what you come up with. great blog!
ReplyDeleteWhat a "challenge"! One of my first thoughts was that you could chose flowers with movement and flexibility, in keeping with the fluidity of yoga and its many poses. Flowers that bend and curl even as they wane, like tulips and hyacinths and lilies and agapanthus and others with "bendy" stems or petals that seem to "dance". On the plant side of things, there are so many beautiful meadow grasses that would be peaceful to look at as well. The pictures in John Greenlee's book The American Meadow Garden might give you some inspiration.
ReplyDeletewow! thanks! i'll definitely check out John Greenlee's book. thank you for sending that my way. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome. Can't wait to see the outcome! -melissa
