Gardenista / Less is More

all photos by yours truly

Friends! I'm so very excited and hugely flattered to share with you the TIGERS to LILIES feature on Gardenista! You know how much I love Gardenista so it's an extra bonus and major honor to be there again (remember my floral crown tutorial last summer?)! I was interviewed for it by Leigh Patterson, of Synonym Journal. She detailed such a wonderful piece and what I appreciate most about it is that she stayed true to my word. No exaggerations or tales. Am I gushing too much? Oh gosh. I am just really, really happy. It is a piece that I believe in too, about how significant nature is for all of us and how we very much need it indoors as much as outdoors. How it doesn't have to be extravagant either. Meaning you can do it too! Less is More. Keep it wild, keep it natural.

thank you so kindly LP + Gardenista! it is always such an honor x

Land of Fire and Ice

This Sunday will already mark our third week back home yet it feels like it was so long ago. I am still processing some film from our recent trip to Iceland, but in the meantime, here are a few pictures. Majestic doesn't even begin to describe the grandness that we witnessed. Have you been? If so, please do share your experience with me! If not, then please add Iceland, land of fire and ice, on your list of places to visit. It will change your spirit and leave such a deep impression.

Stephen Eichhorn

Friends! Stephen Echhorn! Check him out! It made my day looking through his work on plants and cats (that began as a joke and then took off, naturally). Seriously though, I am so loving these photo collages.

Also, thank you so much for your awesome responses to my Plants Anonymous post! They made me smile so big. We should start a club...

I Heart Wilder (Bigtime)

Happy Spring, doves! If you know me then you know that I love Wilder Quarterly and all things it represents. I have a wonderful little collection of their quarterly journals stacked by my bed. I was and still am so humbled about this write up on their site! Read more here.

Thank you so much Celestine + Wilder Quarterly.

stella + cardoons + light
Hello friends + happy week-end to you. I have so much to post (I'll start next week) on everything that has been going on (music video, installation, foraging, interviews!) but for now I will simply give this image. I feel like it was a captured moment of magic. That's how I feel right now: like my life has an extra large dose of magic circling. Magic that I am so grateful for (magic that also comes from a lot of hard work, sweat and time). I am exhausted, I need to recharge, but mostly, I am happy. How are you?

Shalimar de la Tefu Tefu

me + v.v. photo by Kumi
This is the sweetest! Thank you so much Choko and Sonoko for this really sweet post. I met these sisters while they were traveling through different cities in California to do research on a lifestyle book they were working hard on. Their book and blog emphasizes the importance of eating fresh food (preferably raw and vegan), drinking green smoothies and living with more nature and peace. They want to bring this awareness throughout Japan. Everything that I too believe in. So I had them over for tea and cake and we shared wonderful conversation about this kind of lifestyle living. They also told me about their old 70 Volkswagen bus that they were in the process of turning into a juice bus to drive around Tokyo and deliver juices! They clipped some herbs from my garden and made me the best green smoothie I have ever had! I hope to get to spend more time with Sonoko and Choko when they are here next or perhaps when I finally make it out to Japan.

Freunde von Freunden

Way back in the height heat of this past summer my wonderful friend Claire (of BOOKSTAND) asked me to style some flowers for a shoot that was happening of her brand newly moved-in house for the esteemed Freunde von Freunden. I was so excited by this proposal for several reasons, but mostly because there are few people that I enjoy working with more than Claire. Her eye, her natural tendencies towards colors and shapes, her spirit, and her language. We had such a fun and inspired day and kept our cool from the sweltering heat sipping fermented natural sodas and eating cannelle's! I am so proud of her for all her accomplished endeavors. Read more here and get ready to be inspired! Here's to you Claire! xx

V.v.

the one and only
my loves
I couldn't help but forage a wild bouquet--it smelled so good!

Yesterday was V.v.'s eight birthday. It's fitting that she's a Christmas pupsicle because she is such a gift in and of herself.

A long hike through Griffith Park, a new elegant collar, a bully stick and an extra special dinner wove the day into a little celebration for this six pounds of love that has been with me for eight whole years. Here's to you V.v. You have made all the difference.
