V.v.

the one and only
my loves
I couldn't help but forage a wild bouquet--it smelled so good!

Yesterday was V.v.'s eight birthday. It's fitting that she's a Christmas pupsicle because she is such a gift in and of herself.

A long hike through Griffith Park, a new elegant collar, a bully stick and an extra special dinner wove the day into a little celebration for this six pounds of love that has been with me for eight whole years. Here's to you V.v. You have made all the difference.

MAIYET

MAIYET Fall '12 campaign shot by Cass Bird

Hello doves! How was your holiday? Did you get to relax some and eat good food and bathe in the company of family and good friends  I hope so, because that's exactly what I got to do and I feel like that was the best gift I could have asked for.

I think I've only now begun letting you know about my love for Africa and longing to return there. Only natural that I would fall for these images. Aren't they beautiful? The styling, Daria, the Kenyan landscape, the naturalness of the shoot. It all makes my heart swell up. Diana from the beloved Miss Moss is the genius behind the painterly effect on these images. So beautiful.  Check out the whole story here.

Flower Safari

My cunning friend Natalie knew just how to get me all fired up and swooning and filled with the kind of inspiration that keeps me from getting a solid night's rest: she sent this my way! HOW BRILLIANT is this art exhibit?? Look at those geometric plant holders. The floral chandeliers. The beautiful manner in which that incredibly exotic looking plant is pinned to the wall for all to observe and admire. I am simply in awe. Furthermore, this happened in Capetown, South Africa.

OK, how about a little back story here: I don't think that I have ever shared with you how much I love South Africa. Elijah and I traveled throughout that wondrous country for nearly three months in a car and fell so deeply, madly in love with the country. I actually long to be there. Really and truly. That being said it makes my heart burst with joy when I see such creative talent coming out and getting recognition. Please take a moment and visit Mariah of Size Too Small and see some of the magic that is happening there. She is the one who styled Flower Safari and made the floral chandeliers. I am a fan of hers and really appreciate everything she shares, especially her experience as an American living in Capetown with her really beautiful little family.

Holiday Event with SFRD + Cœur!

Hi friends. So sorry it's been so long!

* * *Happy December* * *

Are you having a nice start to the month so far? I hope so. I can finally relax a little now that school is on winter break. Did you have finals too? How have you been? I'd like to know.

So to start off, this Saturday there is a very special pop-up holiday sale over at Society for Rational Dress and curated by Cœur. Very exciting and should be lots of great holiday treasures. I'll be there with wreaths, garlands, and some very special kokedamas and would love to see you. Even if it's just to say hello. So mark it in your calendars.
