Tropical Heat

I've been super inspired by tropicals lately. I did not make the arrangement above but I do like it very much. Something about the tropically wild, huh?

(sorry I can't remember where I got this pic. I'd like to give credit where credit is due)

BOOK STAND

I am so, SO happy to post about my really wonderful and inspiring friend Claire Cottrell's new shop: BOOK STAND. It's what I wish my library (maybe my future library next to my foyer, ah-hem) would consist of. She has steadily been collecting everything from art books, journals, photo books, plant books, earth books, film books, magazines, and just the most wonderful collections of stitched pages that you can imagine. She had shared with me her vision waaay back when we very first met, and I was so super excited about her idea then. To think that now it is up and breathing and kicking and looking so dreamy makes my heart flutter for her! I am so proud of her!

:.  Claire you did it!! I am so super happy for you and now for all of us too!  .:

Wilder Quarterly + TTL

prettier peek here

Sometime this past summer I got a very kind request from Wilder Quarterly to work on a creation for two sisters that are notorious in the fashion world for not liking the word 'beautiful' and for being known as highly conceptual/creative and needless to say (without saying their name): two of my very favs! Furthermore, they are major players in the fashion world. Basically, this all translates down to dream assignment. I knew that these two sisters would appreciate more than just the wild (and dare I say beautiful) bounty of a wildflower bouquet. I needed something more. Something living and kind of strange and maybe even science-y and basically I wanted something that could live in their space and continue to encourage creativity. Hopefully something they had never received before. So I made them kokedamas! A giant staghorn fern took center stage and then I made two supporting members to create a little family of kokedamas. I put a lot of time and love into them. I wanted them to emanate good vibes. Overall, when all was said and done, I was extremely proud of this little family of ferns that I had created. I'd like to think that right now they are hanging in these sisters' studio and spreading good vibes all around. I couldn't have asked for a cooler project. This is what I am all about with TIGERS to LILIES.

Celestine and Wilder Quarterly, I am so honored. Thank you so much*

These are some shots of the three as a bunch. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results. They looked absolutely spectacular as a family, or simply elegant hanging individually. This was an absolute pleasure to create and a dream job, really. Thank you so much Celestine and Wilder Quarterly. You have my heart alright*

shoot I can't remember where I got this...do you know?

Up to my neck in work right now. Homework, photography work, and as of late, farm-work: two vet appointments and three pets later! Sheesh. All is well again now (thannnk goodness).

Here's a thought: wouldn't it be genius if our LA freeways could be lined with plants like this portion of this great sidewalk taken somewhere in Japan? The plants would help clean up our air and it would look so much nicer on our ways to wherever we were going. I'm sure that road rage would drop a bit too. Anyways, just a thought. More like a wish. Goodnight*
